Out of Office Films was established in August 2006 as an independent documentary production company. It will concentrate on factual, current affairs reports.
The company will support original journalism that discovers new truths about the world around us. It believes in challenging accepted assumptions and providing sober, accurate reporting on subjects such as ‘the war on terror’.
It maintains that journalism should not be rooted in parochial intolerance and national self-interest but appeal to the common values of a global audience.
The company’s mission statement is best expressed by a song written by the American
country music artist, Joe South. “Just walk a mile in my shoes. Before you abuse, criticize and accuse. Then walk a mile in my shoes.”
Out of Office Films seeks to debunk government propaganda and public relations’ news releases that masquerade as journalism. The company’s films will provide a voice to the voiceless; its journalists will not be part of the herd. The company believes that the primary role of a journalist is to ensure that those in power are scrutinised and made to account for their actions.
